Paul Anthony
Paul is a Team Leader at Bankstown Sports Club’s reception area, having joined the club in 2012. He was named Bankstown Sports’ Most Valuable Employee of the Year in 2013. Before that, Paul ran two newsagencies, which he built into successful businesses which he sold for a profit by age 30.

Paul’s employer
Bankstown Sports Club is one of Australia’s largest clubs, with more than 65,000 members and about 500 staff. Bankstown Sports likes to do things differently and has set itself apart for many years with its friendly staff, its unique decor, its great food options and its terrific range ofentertainment including the largest indoor play area in the Southern hemisphere, Monkey Mania and a Travelodge Hotel. All club profits go towards the improvement of the club and community. The club supports 47 local sporting clubs (about 8,000 people in all), and provides community grants through the ClubGRANTS scheme. Bankstown Sports Club’s family of venues includes Bankstown Sports Bowls, Birrong Sports and Baulkham Hills Sports Club.

Training
Paul’s says his training was outstanding and the real life workplace scenarios were
extremely relevant.

“As the course was offered by Bankstown Sports Club and the club rostered and paid for my
studies, I found it extremely easy to balance my personal life with my studies. The course
was conducted extremely professionally and it was relevant to the industry in which I work. I
would not recommend any changes to the course.”

Future plans
Paul would love to further his studies by doing a business management course to get a
better insight into the behind-the-scenes workings of large companies.

“I would hope to further my career by working my way up the ladder and helping
Bankstown Sports Club to be the best club in Australia.”
