Today was an exciting day for the ‘Kicking Goals in Hospitality\’ students as they got the chance to learn cocktail creation with Trainer Maria. The students, having previously had a go at making some standard cocktails got the opportunity to create their very own original recipes and we were amazed at their results!

Needless to say we are extremely proud of our students, who after only two short weeks of training have been able to produce great looking and great tasting cocktails. Cocktail making is only a small portion of their overall bar skills unit, however it is one that is always enjoyed by both staff and students and particularly when creativity gets involved, as it did in today’s session.

The result of the cocktail creation session was a wide variety of delightful drinks, each with a unique twist. The cocktails were all named by the student who created them and they are as follows (from left to right in the photo below)….

LOVELY LAPPLE RECIPE by Charlotte

  • 30ml green apple vodka
  • 15ml Midori
  • 15 Jan Vok
  • Lemonade
  • Lime Cordial
  • Orange Slices
  • Strawberry ( for garnish)
  • Crushed Ice

METHOD

  1. Combine vodka, Midori, Jan Vok, Lime Cordial, Lemonade and orange slicers in a Boston shaker along with crushed ice.
  2. Shake to combine
  3. strain into glass
  4. serve garnished with a strawberry

BLUE HEAVEN RECIPE by Myles

  • Grenadine Syrup
  • Lemonade
  • Butterscotch Schnapps (15ml)
  • Vodka (30ml)
  • Cream ( to Garnish)

METHOD:

  1. Combine Grenadine Syrup, lemonade, butterscotch schnapps and vodka in a Boston shaker
  2. Shake to combine
  3. Pour into serving glass
  4. Garnish with whipped cream on top

CHERRY SURPRISE RECIPE by Jasmine

  • 15ml Cherry Brandy
  • 15ml Kahlua
  • 30ml Butterscotch Schnapps
  • Apple blackcurrant juice
  • Chocolate Syrup
  • Cream
  • Crushed Ice
  • Cocoa powder (to Garnish)
  • Banana (to garnish)

METHOD

  1. Combine Brandy, Kahlua, Schnapps, juice, syrup, crushed ice and cream in a boston shaker
  2. Shake to combine
  3. Strain into martini glass
  4. Garnish and serve

NUCLEAR MELTDOWN RECIPE by Gillian

  • 30ml Bacardi
  • 15ml Smirnoff Green Apple Vodka
  • 15ml Creme de menthe
  • lemonade
  • dash of pineapple juice
  • dash of lime cordial
  • diced apple
  • crushed ice
  • lemon wedge (to garnish)

METHOD

  1. Combine Bacardi, Vodka, Creme de menthe, lemonade, juice, cordial, diced apple and crushed ice into a Boston shaker
  2. Shake vigorously to combine
  3. Strain into serving glass
  4. Garnish and serve

HAZLENUT DREAM RECIPE by Kerryn

  • 30mls Frangelico
  • 15mls Kahlua
  • 15mls Vodka
  • Cream
  • Garnishes ( coffee beans, whipped cream, chocolate power, pineapple wedge and glazed cherries)
  • Crushed Ice

METHOD

  1. Combine Frangelico, Kahlua, Vodka, cream and crushed ice into a Boston shaker
  2. Shake vigorously to combine
  3. Strain into serving glass
  4. Garnish and serve
